100-Man Delegation Set by North Central Youths to Push for Sani Musa as APC National Chair

In order to persuade Senate President Godswill Akpabio to support Senator Mohammed Sani Musa for the role of APC National Chairman, a coalition of youth organizations from more than 1,000 APC support groups in Nigeria’s North Central region has announced plans to send a delegation of 100 people to the Senate.

The youth leaders made the decision at an emergency meeting Thursday in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state, where they discussed the North Central geopolitical zone’s political destiny and the necessity of strategic positioning in front of the general elections in 2027.

The groups reiterated their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection campaign in a statement released at the conclusion of the meeting and signed by Comrade Dan Okwa, the North Central APC Youth Vanguard convener. They also stated that achieving that goal would necessitate a strong, realistic, and politically astute party leadership.

We think that the North Central has to be seen at the table of power in addition to being heard. Reorganizing our internal political structure and appointing one of our most reputable and experienced candidates to lead the APC is crucial as we get ready for 2027,” the group stated.

The coalition claims that Senator Sani Musa, who chairs the Senate Committee on Finance and represents Niger East in the National Assembly, has shown the kind of devotion, vision, and grassroots knowledge required to stabilize and reposition the ruling party for electoral success over the years.

“He is a man who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, understands the inner workings of the APC, and appreciates its vision,” Okwa continued.

“For this reason, we are sending a delegation of 100 people to see Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, within the next week to make our case and ask for his support for this crucial mission.”

The youth coalition stated that Sani Musa is a generational bridge who blends experience with a forward-thinking viewpoint, even though it acknowledged that other well-known candidates from the North Central, such as former Nasarawa governor Senator Tanko Al-Makura, have expressed interest in leading the party.

“All candidates are revered, but Senator Al-Makura, a well-known elder and party builder, is particularly so. However, we firmly feel that the APC needs a younger, more energetic, and unifying leader who can inspire the party base, especially the youth, at this pivotal juncture in our country’s history. “That individual is Senator Sani Musa,” the statement said.

The groups also took advantage of the occasion to urge APC political stakeholders and elders, particularly those from the North Central region, to pressure Senator Sani Musa to formally express interest in the position of national chairman and spearhead the initiative to increase the region’s clout in national politics.

A comprehensive petition with resolutions from the youth summit and a summary of the North Central zone’s strategic role in maintaining the APC since its founding would be presented by the delegation to Akpabio, according to Okwa.

“The North Central has consistently supported the APC, from organizing large-scale voter turnout to standing up for the party in trying times. We think the party should reward capacity and loyalty today,” he stated.

The youth coalition reiterated that their campaign is not only about regional inclusion but also about reestablishing party discipline, restoring trust, and setting up the APC for future victories. They also pledged to increase mobilization throughout the North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory in advance of the APC National Convention.

“Not just in the North Central, but in all the zones, we will interact with important leaders. This concerns the APC’s future, and we think Senator Sani Musa is the best person to get us there,” Okwa said.

Later on week, the team is scheduled to meet with Senate President Akpabio in Abuja.
