Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is still the only viable alternative for Nigerians, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration works to build the country for the benefit of its residents.
The Speaker made these statements after the official defection of many PDP members to the APC in Kaduna State, led by Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, former Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
According to reports, the former NEMA DG, together with hundreds of his fans and other former PDP leaders in Kaduna State, joined the APC.
Abbas welcomed Sani Sidi into the APC, stating that the former NEMA DG’s move was timely and suitable. He emphasized that the ruling party provides a safe haven for politicians committed to improving the lives of their citizens.
The Speaker stated on Wednesday that the APC will continue to grow as more members of opposition parties join the ruling party.
“Today is a joyful day for all APC members in Kaduna. I can’t recall witnessing members of the opposition band together in the last two years to show their support and unity with the APC, as they did tonight.
“Myself and the Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, have been in talks with Sani Sidi for over three months to see how he can abandon the sinking ship. Governor Uba Sani has made significant efforts to get Sani Sidi aboard.
“I want to assure you that Sani Sidi joined the APC after witnessing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s and Governor Uba Sani’s developmental activities. We are pleased that you have agreed to join APC.

“You came to the correct location. This is a party that promotes peace and fulfillment. You have become an integral part of us. You are in good and trustworthy hands. We assure you that you will be treated with the respect and advantages that are only reserved for APC foundation members. “You will have no reason to regret your decision,” the Speaker told the defectors.
In a separate statement during the event, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani hailed Alhaji Sani Sidi as one of the state’s prominent political leaders, whose decision to join the APC was for the development of the state, particularly his people, rather than for personal gain.
“Today, I am not shocked that he made the proper choice. His decision is purely for the benefit of his people, not for personal gain. He is comfortable and has enough for himself.
“Like the Speaker mentioned, we held a number of meetings, consultations, and interactions. In all of these, his primary concern is the development of Kaduna state.
