2027 Election: Tinubu’s Minister Keyamo Breaks Silence on Delta Governorship Bid

In a statement released on Monday by his Special Assistant on Political Matters, Voke Oshasha, Keyamo dismissed the posters as “fake” and described them as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. He accused certain individuals of trying to manipulate the Delta All Progressives Congress (APC) for their personal benefit, using these posters as a tool for blackmail.

There have been speculations that Keyamo is testing the waters within the APC ahead of the 2027 election. According to a report, some stakeholders believe the posters might be an attempt to challenge former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, who is also rumored to have governorship ambitions.

However, Keyamo strongly refuted these claims, emphasizing that the posters aim to misrepresent his efforts and those of other APC leaders who seek to make the party more inclusive. He stressed that the objective is to create a more open and participatory political environment, rather than allowing the party to be controlled by a single individual.

Oshasha’s statement read: “We have become aware of the circulation of fake campaign posters online, falsely suggesting that Minister Festus Keyamo, SAN, intends to run for Governor of Delta State in 2027 under the APC.

“This is nothing but a cheap blackmail tactic by those who wish to turn Delta APC into their personal empire. Their goal is to mislead the public and undermine the Minister’s sincere efforts, alongside other party leaders, to promote inclusivity and fair participation within the party. The Minister remains committed to ensuring that every member has equal opportunities, rather than leaving the party under the control of a select few.”

Keyamo reaffirmed his commitment to democracy, recalling his history of fighting against military rule and injustice alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the NADECO era. He stated that he would not hesitate to resist any form of civilian dictatorship within the party.

He further emphasized that Delta APC leaders are working together to build a strong and united party, ensuring that no one is excluded. He encouraged collective efforts in party building rather than seeking political favors through undemocratic means.

“All attempts at blackmail will not deter the Minister from working with others to achieve these critical goals,” the statement concluded.
