Anambra 2025: PDP Sets Governorship Form at ₦35 Million, Cites Economic Factors

For the Anambra State governorship race, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set the party’s nomination form at ₦35 million.
According to reports, PDP National Organizing Secretary Umar Bature wrote this in a letter to Anambra PDP Chairman Chidi Chidebe.
On behalf of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), Bature later attributed the upward evaluation of the nomination form to the nation’s economic trajectory.

This is to notify you that the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the approaching Governorship Election in your State has been approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) of our wonderful Party, the PDP.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published its Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Governorship Election in your State. Based on our prior experience, the Directorate of Organization and Mobilization (DOM) has created our own schedule that aligns with the Commission’s timeline,” the statement stated.

The statement also revealed that young people under 40 years old receive a 50% discount on nomination form fees, while female candidates and those with impairments are excluded from paying for them.

In accordance with the authorized schedule, it is crucial to call your attention to the new highlights. The Nomination and Expression of Interest fees have been raised to reflect the nation’s present economic climate. In light of this, kindly refer to the current authorized fees shown below:

Forms for Adhoc Delegates (₦50,000.00), National Delegates (₦150,000.00), Expressions of Interest (₦5,000,000.00), and Nominations (₦35,000,000.00)

“However, in accordance with our Party’s Constitution, female candidates and people with disabilities (PLWD) are exempt from paying for nomination forms. Additionally, youths under 40 are required to purchase Expression of Interest forms, but they will receive a 50% discount on nomination forms,” the statement continued.
