Rivers PDP Warns Wike of Possible Expulsion, Declares Amaewhule, 26 Lawmakers Non-Members”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Rivers State has threatened to expel Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), if the state’s ongoing political turmoil persists.
At a news conference held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Robinson Ewor, the PDP’s acting state chairman, charged the former governor with a number of anti-party actions.
Depending on the seriousness of Wike’s behavior, Ewor reportedly stated that these activities could result in either his suspension or expulsion from the party.
The party has a system in place to deal with these kinds of problems, Ewor said. Anybody who is undermining the party can be dealt with by the state executive committees, NEC, and NWC. Nyesom Wike’s anti-party actions will be dealt with when we completely retake the party in Rivers State, and he may face suspension or expulsion.
Wike is being accused by the PDP of actions that have damaged the party’s reputation. In support of his claim that Wike is now more devoted to the All Progressives Congress (APC) than the PDP, the acting chairman cited Wike’s present role as a minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet.
“Wike is employed by Tinubu’s administration, and you can’t serve two masters.” He has tarnished the PDP’s reputation and undercut it with his activities. At the right moment, we will act,” Ewor continued.
The latest ruling by the Supreme Court that 27 additional lawmakers, including Martins Amaewhule, had not left the party was also contested by the PDP.
Their public declaration of defection on the House of Assembly floor and an affidavit testified to in the Abuja High Court both corroborate the PDP’s insistence that the lawmakers, including Amaewhule, had already defected to the APC.
It’s possible that the Supreme Court made a legal mistake, Ewor said. The PDP no longer counts Amaewhule and the other 26 as members. We have evidence, such as the affidavit they provided, that they were received by the APC after defecting prior to the ruling.
The PDP stated that it supports Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his attempts to apply the Supreme Court’s decision for Rivers State’s benefit, notwithstanding the lingering conflict.
Ewor urged the 27 lawmakers to change their minds and abide by the decision for the sake of the state.

“Governor Fubara deserves praise for his dedication to the Supreme Court’s ruling. “We implore the 27 legislators to support the governor and concentrate on what will be best for the people of Rivers State,” he stated.
As a last resort, the PDP urged Nyesom Wike to “sheath his sword” and permit Rivers State to return to peace. Ewor underlined that this action will assist guarantee that Governor Fubara can focus on governance and give the state the leadership it requires during this crucial period.
In order for the governor to concentrate on the advancement of the state, we implore Wike to let peace reign. The job that must be done for the benefit of the Rivers people is being sidetracked by this disagreement,” Ewor said.
