Pastor Adeboye Renames RCCG, Unveils New Identity

The RCCG Apapa Family has been formally renamed The Favoured Family by Pastor E. A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
During his second visit to Trinity Towers, the headquarters of the RCCG City of David parish, which is in charge of the Apapa Family, this renaming reportedly occurred on Sunday.
He revealed that he was given a spiritual command to rename this well-known family in the RCCG community while accompanied by his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye.
Pastor Adeboye explained the necessity for the Apapa Family to undergo a fresh outpouring of grace, represented by the introduction of salt and a new cruse, in his sermon from 2 Kings 2:19–24.
He emphasized that the salt stands for God’s restoration of taste and life, the eradication of bitterness, the warding off of demonic influences, and the encouragement of rapid advancement.
He clarified that the new cruse represents a fresh start, the restoration of lost splendor, and a renewed will to rekindle spiritual desire.
Pastor Adeboye said, “Anyone who was hot before and became lukewarm would now burn brightly again.”
According to reports, the RCCG Apapa Family has a rich history that dates back to 1991, when it was founded in Roxy Cinema in Apapa. in the time, it had about 50 members led by Pastor Tony Rapu.
With the help of a committed staff of more than 500 people, the congregation grew to over 45 parishes in Nigeria and abroad in just five years.

Evangelism, the establishment of God’s rule, and the demonstration of the importance of Christianity by creative and modern manifestations of their beliefs are among their goals.
The RCCG Apapa Family has undergone significant change and expansion throughout the years, with several pastors having crucial roles in its progress.
The Apapa Family Churches continued to grow under the leadership of Pastor Eskor Mfon, who succeeded Pastor Tony Rapu.
Pastor Idowu Iluyomade was named the Apapa Family’s new leader following the death of Pastor Mfon.
Pastor Kayode Pitan took Pastor Iluyomade’s place as the Head of the Apapa Family on September 1, 2024.
