Ekiti Govt Steps In to Address Tensions Following Mosque Demolition Controversy

In an effort to reduce tensions after a mosque in the state’s Aramoko LGA was demolished, the Ekiti government has held peace negotiations with Muslim leaders under the auspices of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA).
The administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji is still dedicated to religious harmony and peaceful coexistence, according to Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, who met with the religious leaders.
According to reports, the mosque in issue was razed to make room for an ultra-modern market, which was an initiative of Senate Leader and Senator Opeyemi Bamidele of Ekiti Central.

Speaking during the gathering, Afuye said that another piece of land had already been set aside for the mosque’s reconstruction by the Alara-in-Council, which was headed by Oba Olu Adeyemi, the Alara of Aramoko Ekiti.

She reassured the Muslim community of the government’s dedication to justice and advised them to maintain their composure.
The fact that Aramoko Ekiti’s Alara is a Muslim leader even makes me delighted. Afuye stated, “He cannot be in an environment where you will be deceived.”

“To guarantee a peaceful resolution, we will soon call a stakeholders’ meeting.”
“We want this issue settled as soon as possible. He stated, “We think Governor Oyebanji won’t let it fester.”

Alhaji Abdul-Raheem Bamigbola, the chief imam of Aramoko Ekiti, expressed worry over the demolition of two mosques in the neighborhood for development projects in less than six months, with minimal effort put into their reconstruction.

“The Muslim community is in favor of development, but they need to restore their place of worship in a suitable location,” he said.

The Imam stated, “We are grateful for Senator Bamidele’s progress, but he needs to keep his word and construct another mosque for us.”
