N6.3M Debt: How Osupa Helped Prevent Portable’s Re-Arrest

A second petition against controversial Nigerian singer Badmus Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, has prevented him from being arrested again.
According to reports, veteran Fuji musician Okunola Saheed, often known as Osupa, retracted his suit against Portable on Tuesday, restoring his freedom.
Osupa had petitioned the police, alleging that Portable had engaged in cyberstalking, criminal intimidation, inciting public unrest, and criminal defamation.

After failing to meet his bail requirements on Monday, Portable was placed on remand at the federal prison in Oke Kura, Ilorin.
On Tuesday, Portable received respite when Osupa requested the lawsuit to be withdrawn through his attorney, Opalekunde Ahmed.
But according to a Punch report, Osupa also stopped Portable from being detained again by Ilorin, the managing director of Starwood Hotels, after he allegedly received ₦6.3 million for a show he didn’t do.
Yemi George, the hotel’s managing director, revealed the latest development on Tuesday, saying that Osupa persuaded him not to detain Portable again after he received ₦6.3 million for a show he did not do.
“I have all the paperwork I need to re-arrest him today (Tuesday) and get my money back, but I decided against it out of respect for the renowned Fuji artist Osupa.
“The leadership of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, along with my company, Starwood Hotels O2 Arena, organized an event for Portable to perform, but he never did,” George added.
