Counsel Seeks N100 Million Compensation for Peter Obi Supporter Quadri

Effiong Inibehe, Quadri Yusuf Alabi’s attorney, has sought ₦100 million in compensation for the 17-year-old.
According to reports, Quadri was cleared on Thursday of an allegation of armed robbery.
Inibehe revealed in a statement that Peter Obi’s supporter, a former Labour Party presidential candidate, was released after receiving legal counsel from Babajide Martins, the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

According to him, Martins informed A.O. Olorunfemi, the sitting magistrate, that there was no proof Quadri had committed the purported crime.

“The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State, Dr. Babajide Martins, provided legal advice indicating that there was no evidence to support the allegation of armed robbery against Quadri, which was confirmed by the presiding magistrate, His Honour, A. O. Olorunfemi (Mrs.), at the court today.” The DPP suggested in his Legal Advice that Quadri not be prosecuted. As a result, he was released after being dismissed by the presiding magistrate.

He remarked, “We applaud the DPP for sticking to the facts in this case.”

Inibehe also called on Nigeria Police to look into all of the policemen who were involved in Quadri’s detention.

In addition to the IPO, one Inspector Odigbe Samuel, and other officers who took part in this heinous, sinister, oppressive, and corrupt scheme of framing a teenager for armed robbery at the behest of renegade “Area Boys,” we demand that the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, remove the DPO of Amukoko Divisional Headquarters immediately and put him through an orderly room trial.

“We demand that our client receive compensation from the Nigeria Police Force in the amount of one hundred million naira (₦100,000,000.00).”

Additionally, we want the police to issue a public apology.

We will take legal action to obtain redress if the three remedial demands listed above are not promptly completely met with.

Quadri’s story serves as a heartbreaking illustration of the Nigeria Police Force’s egregious corruption, heinous impunity, and widespread injustice.

“Unbridled criminality, lawlessness, and lack of accountability in the Police institution and the weakness of the justice system are the reasons why many Quadris are lingering in detention centers throughout Nigeria,” he continued.
