Peter Obi Meets Alabi Quadri Post-Prison, Makes New Promise

Alabi Quadri, a supporter of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, met with him. Quadri gained widespread attention during the Nigerian presidential campaign of 2023.
Quadri became a national icon of bravery during the general elections of 2023 because she bravely stepped in front of Peter Obi’s campaign vehicle.
Following press claims that he had been wrongfully imprisoned in Kirikiri Prison on charges of felony and armed robbery, the boy reportedly rose to fame once more in 2025.
Obi asked a lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, to investigate his case after disclosing his existing circumstances.
In response to the legal action, Quadri was acquitted and released on Thursday by the Apapa Magistrate Court, Court 9, located at the Sikiru Adagun Courthouse in Lagos’ Orege, Ajegunle.
After being released, the small child spoke of his wish to go back to school.
Peter Obi said he visited with the child on Friday and promised to help him realize his dream of going back to school.
In addition to expressing gratitude to everyone who helped secure the young boy’s release, the former governor of Anambra State stated that everyone who was involved in Quadri’s unlawful detention ought to answer for their actions.

I had the chance to meet Quadri Yusuf Alabi today, the young child whose tale touched us all. I am extremely thankful to the attorneys lead by @InibeheEffiong, who fought for his release after he endured an unjust and unlawful confinement, as well as to @DeleFarotimi and Ms. Hassana Nurudeen, whose unwavering intervention was crucial in winning justice for the young man.
When I listened to Quadri today, his unwavering drive for knowledge was evident. Despite all that has happened to him, his only goal is to go back to school and finish his education, and I will make sure that he does.
I’m determined to make sure he has the education he deserves and wants because his tenacity is not only admirable but also a call to action.
We must also not end with his release. It is imperative that those who illegally imprisoned him face consequences. As we work to create a Nigeria where justice and honesty are valued, we cannot afford to let these crimes continue unchecked.
“I express my gratitude once more to the attorneys and all those who stood and persisted in demanding justice.
Peter Obi stated in a statement via his 𝕏 account, “Together, we will build a Nigeria where education, freedom, rule of law, equity and justice, care and protection of the less privileged in our midst will stand as the foundation of our democracy.”
