IGP Deploys Team To Investigate Senator Natasha’s Allegations Against Akpabio

A special team has been appointed by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to investigate the serious charges made against Senate President Godswill Akpabio by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
According to reports, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had charged Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello with planning her murder.
In response, Akpabio sent a petition to the IGP on April 3rd, copying the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi.
The Senate President called the senator’s remarks “defamatory” and urged the government to take legal action to protect him and maintain peace.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development to The Nation, saying that the IGP has already taken action on the appeal.
“Yes, Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, has sent us the petition. A team has been instructed by the IGP to look into it,” Adejobi said.
In a homecoming address to her supporters on April 1, the senator made the accusations, claiming that the purported plot to remove her was the result of an unsuccessful attempt to recall her from the Senate.
She informed the audience that before making her allegations public, she had previously filed an official report with the police.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was cited as saying: “Remember, two days prior to that, Akpabio had called Governor Ododo to start my recall, but Ododo informed him it would not be feasible.” This was around 10:00 p.m. on March 13. Ododo told Akpabio that the recall will be hard because the masses are with me. However, Akpabio called Yahaya Bello because he was not happy. I was told everything.
There were two parts to the meeting. They instructed him to start my recall and promised to pay for it. His second statement was that he ought to attempt my murder. I wrote to the Police Inspector, but I didn’t make this public.
In order to make it appear as though the persons who killed me were here, the senator claimed that Akpabio advised Yahaya Bello to ensure that the murder did not take place in Abuja but rather here.
