NSCDC Arrests 45-Year-Old for Railway Vandalism, Recovers Tracks in Bauchi

In addition to recovering stolen railway supplies valued at millions of naira, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, or NSCDC, has detained a 45-year-old man for railway vandalism in the state of Bauchi.
In Bauchi, Commandant Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde revealed this to reporters.
According to him, the arrest and recovery were a part of the Corps’ continuous efforts to protect vital national components.
Oyerinde said, “Our operatives promptly responded to a report of railway track vandalism at New Gwaram, along Gombe Road, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., following credible intelligence from the DSS Alkaleri Division.”
Officers found a white Peugeot J5 loaded with vandalized railway components, including 20 bags of charcoal, 14 fish plates, and 53 sleepers with bolts and nuts, even though the suspects had already left.
“Usman Jungudo was arrested as a result of additional operations in the Tubule Ward in Kirfi LGA’s Cross Tasha, Faruqu, and Taliyaje districts.

Commandant Oyerinde commended his officers for their swift and effective response, noting that such dedication was key to the success of the operation.
We will not put up with the destruction of public property in Bauchi State, thus this is a strong warning. Offenders will face the full force of the law,” he declared.
He added that investigations were ongoing and the suspect would be prosecuted accordingly.
Oyerinde also urged residents to support the NSCDC by reporting suspicious activities, adding that “timely and accurate information is vital in combating crime and protecting our communities.”
