During Sunday night’s 17th Headies Awards, Annie, a Nollywood actress and the estranged wife of Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, formally announced their divorce.
The actress, who had been silent on the matter for months, reportedly spoke up when she co-presented the Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year award.
She performed alongside Farooq Oreagba, who is renowned for being the “King of Steeze” after his legendary performance at the 2024 Ojude Oba festival.
Annie’s new status was evident when she halted while introducing herself and hastily updated her name.
“Annie Idi… Oh! I apologize, Annie Macaulay. Hello, unmarried women! The gathering erupted in cheers and clapping as she made her announcement.

In March, about two months after 2Baba announced their split, Annie reappeared on social media, signing off with her full name, Annie Uwana Macaulay, noticeably lacking the Idibia surname. This public confirmation follows clues earlier in the year.
Following 2Baba’s declaration of their separation, the ex-couple, who have two children together, formally terminated their marriage in January 2025.
2Baba has since moved on and made a proposal to Natasha Osawaru, a legislator from Edo State. There has been a lot of conjecture about an impending wedding since he presented her to his family and Benue State society.
