BREAKING: Federal Government Declares May 1st a Public Holiday

On behalf of the Federal Government, Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has proclaimed Thursday, May 1, 2025, a national holiday in observance of Workers’ Day.
According to reports, Tunji-Ojo praised workers for their commitment and hard work in a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s permanent secretary, on Tuesday night. She also reaffirmed the necessity of peace in order to propel industrialization and economic expansion.
He pointed out that Nigeria’s greatness and the respect it enjoys in international society are primarily due to the efforts of its workers.

As a result, Tunji-Ojo encouraged employees to adopt a culture of creativity and efficiency.
As the current administration of President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to the Renewed Hope Agenda he promised, the minister advised Nigerians to maintain hope while wishing workers a joyous celebration.
He went on to say, “Work has dignity; our commitment to our work is essential to the development of our country.
In order to push and improve governance and ensure that everyone in Nigeria benefits as much as possible from the country’s wealth, we urge workers to improve the standard of their work.
“The security of every citizen’s and foreigner’s life and property is a top priority for this administration.”
