BREAKING: Labour Party Suspends Governor Otti, Senators Kingibe and Nwokocha

By suspending six important individuals indefinitely, including Senators Darlington Nwokocha and Ireti Kingibe and Abia State Governor Alex Otti, the Labour Party has taken a bold stand.
According to reports, the action was taken in response to allegations of anti-party behavior.

Amobi Ogah, Seyi Sowumi, and Victor Afam Ogene are also impacted by the suspension. In response to suggestions made by a disciplinary panel established earlier this month, the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) approved the move.
Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the party’s national secretary, made the announcement in an official statement on Wednesday.

The paper states that the individuals concerned are prohibited from engaging in any activity related to the Labour Party and that the suspension is effective immediately.

The statement says: “Remember that the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) established a five-member disciplinary committee last Friday, May 2, 2025, to look into claims of anti-party activities against Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti and any other party members. The committee was led by the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, and Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi.

“The party leadership has received the report from the Disciplinary Committee, which has completed its task. Following a thorough discussion and in accordance with the authority granted by the Party Constitution, the National Executive of the party met today, May 7, 2025, and approved the recommendation made by the Disciplinary Committee.

As a result, the following party members have been immediately and permanently barred from the party and all of its activities. 3. Senator Darlington Nwokocha; 4. Hon. Victor Afam Ogene; 5. Hon. Amobi Ogah; 6. Hon. Seyi Sowunmi; 1. Dr. Alex Otti; 2. Senator Ireti Kingibe.

The party also explained why Nenadi Usman was left out of the list of sanctioned individuals, stating that while she is associated with the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential campaign, she is not a formal member of the party.
We know that she is a part of the Obidient Support organization, which has worked and continues to fight for the party’s presidential candidate in 2023. Since she is not a party member, we will not honor her with any sanctions,” the statement continued.

In a follow-up attack, the party cited Usman’s purported interactions with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and his ownership of multiple assets to accuse him of lacking the credibility to discuss corruption.

She should also explain to Nigerians how she got her Kameroonian businesses, including her plantations, her radio station in Kaduna, and all of her assets in Nigeria and elsewhere. It said, “Nenadi Usman is morally incapable of initiating any investigation or even discussing corruption.”

Ahead of the 2027 elections, the Labour Party reiterated its political stance and stressed its independence, separating itself from alliances or merger negotiations.

The statement closed by saying, “The Labour Party will pursue the 2027 general election as a stand-alone party and no further discussion will be entertained on this matter.”
