IG Pledges to Strengthen Institutional Capacity, According to Force Spokesperson

Speaking yesterday, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, an Assignment Commissioner of Police and the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), stated that Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun is dedicated to strengthening the force’s institutional capacity to fulfill its constitutional duty.
During a press conference on the fifth edition of the conference and retreat for senior police officers, which will take place in the historic and tranquil city of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, from February 24 to 26, 2025, Adejobi made this statement.
“The conference is part of the IGP’s ongoing effort to transform the force into a professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law compliant, and people-friendly security institution with the capacity to support the Federal Government’s agenda of economic prosperity and development in the country,” claimed the Force Spokesperson.
He claimed that the conference would provide a forum for peer review and idea sharing among police strategic managers and carefully chosen policing specialists both domestically and internationally regarding the successful application of community-based internal security management techniques.
He added that all senior officers from the rank of Commissioner of Police and higher are present at the conference, which serves as a forum for senior police managers nationwide to evaluate the force’s internal security performance critically and devise plans for enhancing service delivery and safeguarding our beloved nation’s internal security area.
“In the previous edition, Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, the President of INTERPOL, was the guest of honor. The INTERPOL President stated in his keynote presentation that his organization wants to deepen INTERPOL’s partnership with Nigeria, given the Nigeria Police Force’s critical role in worldwide community security.

The fifth edition is set to take place in the historic and tranquil city of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, from Monday, February 24 to Wednesday, February 26, 2025, with the topic, “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing.”
“The conference will be opened by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will be the Special Guest of Honor at the Opening Ceremony on February 24, 2024, at 10:00 am.
Legislators, Ministers, the Chief of Defense Staff, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, State Governors, the National Security Advisor, and other leaders of the nation’s security institutions are anticipated to attend the inauguration ceremony. Additionally, some visitors from outside of Africa are anticipated.
The focus of this fifth edition, according to Adejobi, is how important an inclusive police strategy is for promoting both economic development and national security.
