BREAKING: ISWAP Terrorists Seize Soldiers, Overrun Borno Community in New Attack

After an intense attack that overpowered Nigerian forces last weekend, terrorists from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) are said to have taken total control of Borno State’s Marte Local Government Area.
According to a military insider who asked to remain anonymous, the terrorists carried out a string of well-planned attacks that forced the Nigerian Army to withdraw from its positions in the area by May 12, 2025.
The military was finally compelled to evacuate from Marte around 3 AM on May 12, 2025, following a string of intermittent strikes, according to additional verified information from the source.

Numerous soldiers—an unknown number—were taken prisoner, while many more deserted, including those who ran away. At the moment, Dikwa are at the 24 Task Force Brigade. Marte has been taken over by ISWAP.
The Nigeria Air Force was observed hovering above the general region, and all gunfire were heard in Dikwa. The number of casualties is yet unknown, the source allegedly told SaharaReporters.

According to reports, the Nigerian military, which has been struggling to combat the ten-year insurgency in the Northeast, has suffered a serious setback with the capture of Marte, a crucial local government area in the Lake Chad region.

In recent years, the town has undergone multiple takeovers, making it a strategic and symbolic target for government and ISWAP forces.

According to reports, Boko Haram stormed a Nigerian Army facility in Borno State, killing a large number of Nigerian soldiers.

Troops were displaced as a result of the previous attack, which took place on Saturday night at the base of the 153 Task Force Battalion in Marte Local Government Council.

Sources claim that the attackers confiscated weaponry and burned armored vehicles during the raid.

One of the sources, an Army Major, informed SaharaReporters, “There was another Boko Haram dislodgement in Marte 153 TF Battalion on Saturday night, so many of our men are feared dead as we already lost communication with the base since the attack.”

In Borno State, Nigeria, the 153rd Task Force Battalion (153 TF Battalion) has engaged in numerous clashes with Boko Haram, including ambushes and the reoccupation of strategic locations like Marte.

This comes after an attack on a military facility in Malam-Fatori, in the Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, recently claimed the lives of 22 soldiers, including a commanding officer.
Nigeria has been involved in a serious war with insurgency groups that are mostly active in the country’s northeast for more than a decade.

The most well-known of these organizations is Boko Haram, which began in the early 2000s but intensified its violent operations in 2009, launching a terror campaign that included bombings, mass kidnappings, and attacks on both military and civilian targets.
