Abure Vows to Expose Peter Obi, Alex Otti, Others: ‘They Will Smell Like Rotten Eggs’

Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party, has directly challenged Peter Obi and other former candidates for president under the party’s platform, asking them to produce proof of any funds purportedly donated to the party or to Obi during the general elections in 2023.
In response to persistent accusations of corruption inside the party’s leadership, Abure made the assertion during a video broadcast by Symfoni on Tuesday, while speaking to party members in the Federal Capital Territory.
As far as Naija News is aware, he vehemently disputed that any of the party’s candidates, including Obi, had given him money for personal use.

“I want to challenge everyone who ran for office, starting with Peter Obi. Allow any of them to publicly share what they directly donated to the party or to me,” Abure said.
“Let them show the evidence if they have it. Let them keep their peace indefinitely if they don’t.

He denounced what he called “cowardly whispers” of corruption and charged critics with avoiding direct confrontation with the party leadership in favor of hiding behind the media.

Abure also alluded to a global press conference in which he pledged to publicly name members of the party’s rival group.

Though he cautioned that more provocation would compel him to speak, he said he had remained silent out of a feeling of leadership and the desire for peace.

“I remained silent while people were discussing agents and agency funding. I think it’s my job to handle the good, the terrible, and the ugly. However, some people are now crossing their limits,” he stated.

“I’m waiting for them to take action.” Additionally, they will smell like rotten eggs that no one will purchase wherever they go once I open my lips.

Abure also took a shot at Abia State Governor Alex Otti—the Labour Party’s only elected governor—accusing him of failing to contribute financially to the party during the elections.

Take a look at the governor, who is hopping around like a cricket. “We didn’t get any money from him,” he stated.

“He asked me, ‘Chairman, what do I do for you?'” when we first met at Transcorp. “Nothing,” I replied. Make use of your funds to win your election.

He added that elected members have not given the party any significant assistance, with the exception of a few MPs who made small donations.

Abure vehemently denied recent allegations of financial misconduct, asserting that the leadership of the Labour Party rejected bribes worth billions of naira during the election campaign.

Due to the integrity of our positions, we turned down offers. However, these same individuals are attempting to expel us today,” he stated.
