U.S. Secret Service Monitoring Ex-FBI Chief’s Viral ‘8647’ Post Amid Trump Assassination Concerns

The U.S. Secret Service has increased protection after former FBI Director James Comey made a contentious social media post that many saw as a covert threat against President Donald Trump.
Following her Instagram post on Thursday that included seashells arranged in the number “8647” on a beach with the remark, “cool shell formation on my beachwalk,” Comey came under heavy fire.
Despite being later taken down, the post provoked a lot of criticism and was seen by Trump fans as a covert call for killing.

As per online interpretations, “86” is a colloquial term for removing someone, based on the measurements of a typical burial, which are eight feet long and six feet deep. Meanwhile, “47” represents Trump’s status as the 47th President of the United States.

Later, in reaction to the public outcry, Comey clarified, saying, “I thought the photo of some shells I tweeted earlier was a political message since I noticed them today while walking on the beach.

It didn’t occur to me that some people connected those figures to violence. I removed the message since I don’t support violence of any type, even if I never thought of it.

Homeland Security said that the issue is being taken seriously. Both her agency and the Secret Service are looking into the post, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said on X.

Former FBI Director James Comey, who is now disgraced, recently called for the death of President Trump. Our Secret Service and DHS are looking into this threat and will take the proper action,” Noem added.

Another voice was that of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Asserting that the FBI is working with the appropriate authorities, current Director Kash Patel said, “We are aware of the recent social media post by former FBI Director James Comey, directed at President Trump?”

The Secret Service and Director Curran are in contact with us,” Patel continued.

Comey, who was named the seventh director of the FBI by President Barack Obama in 2013, was fired by then-President Trump in 2017, during Trump’s first term in office.
