NDLEA Seizes UK-Bound Cannabis Concealed in Duvet at Lagos Airport, Arrests Two

A cargo of cannabis, commonly referred to as “Loud,” that was headed for the UK was seized by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency agents as it was hidden in a duvet.
Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, said in a statement on Sunday that the shipment was stopped on Tuesday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.
Two individuals connected to the shipment, Adakole Sunday and Austin Balogun, were detained right away when NDLEA officials found them, according to the statement.
Part of the statement stated that “six packages of the psychoactive material weighing a gross weight of 3.50 kilograms were hidden inside the duvet.”
According to Austin Balogun, the principal agent who employed Adakole, he was paid N700,000 to ship the shipment to the UK, but he only used a portion of the funds for export handling fees and the majority to purchase an apartment, the statement continued.
Babafemi further stated that guns and “skuchies” were found during a raid in the Ikorodu neighborhood of Lagos.
At least two suspects, Joseph Oluwasegun Adewale and Biodun Adelakun, were taken into custody at Igbo Olomu, Ikorodu, Lagos, he wrote, after NDLEA agents raided their hiding place and found seven liters of skuchies, a novel psychoactive substance made from black currant, cannabis, and opioids.
“An iron-head axe, three cartridges, one empty 9mm cartridge, one locally made double barrel rifle, one locally made double barrel pistol, one English-made pistol, and one locally made single barrel rifle are among the additional exhibits taken from the pair.”
On January 19, another operation was conducted in Lagos’s Akala neighborhood of Mushin, which resulted in the confiscation of 25.46 kg of laughing gas, a strain of cannabis, and 47 kg of skunk.
