Folarin Falana, the well-known Nigerian artist known professionally as Falz, has rejected allegations that he is involved with controversial cross-dresser Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
It was noted that the social media critic VeryDarkMan, known as VDM, had leaked an alleged phone conversation between Falz and Bobrisky while the latter was in prison in 2024.
The development ignited rampant speculation about Falz’s sexuality, prompting him to file a defamation lawsuit against VDM.
During an interview with Arise TV on June 4, 2025, Falz denied having a relationship with Bobrisky, stating that he was only trying to help, amid ongoing legal battles with VDM.
Providing an update on the legal matter involving VDM, Falz noted that the social media critic has not yet entered a defense

He stated, “Update regarding the court case, still very much in court. My father and I are claiming defamation in a substantive suit. Since we filed the case, they have never submitted a defense. Instead, they filed a preliminary objection stating that the court lacks jurisdiction to hear the case or something similar.
„Wie am letzten Datum war ich beim Gericht. The court has rejected that preliminary objection. They must now submit a defense; otherwise, the court will proceed to rule on the case. That is the update. Due to the ongoing litigation, I cannot comment further on the matter.
“Before that phone call, I had never had any relationship with Bobrisky. He sent me a message on Instagram, stating, ‘I’m involved in this case and would like to discuss how you can assist.’ And you know, I received messages from thousands of people regarding similar matters. This is neither a special case nor exceptional in any way.
„In vielen dieser Fälle biete ich ihnen eine Plattform, sozusagen die Frage – wie kann ich unterstützen? With compassion. I had no idea. Anyway, as the saying goes, once bitten, twice shy. Ultimately, I might not help anyone else in my life, but perhaps I will become much more aware.
