Jordan and Uzbekistan Make History as 10 Countries Secure Spots for 2026 World Cup

At least ten countries have already purchased tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Jordan and Uzbekistan making history by qualifying for the tournament for the first time ever.
Uzbekistan secured their place on Thursday, despite being held goalless by the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi. The result was enough to place them second in Group A behind Iran, with one encounter remaining in the Asian qualifications.
South Korea also confirmed its 11th consecutive World Cup appearance, cementing its position as an Asian football superpower.
Jordan, Uzbekistan, and South Korea join a growing list of confirmed participants, which includes Japan, New Zealand, Iran, and reigning world champion Argentina.
Note that the tournament’s co-hosts, the United States, Canada, and Mexico, have already qualified as hosts.
With Asia’s six automatic slots filled, the struggle for the remaining spots continues.
The UAE and Qatar will place third and fourth in their respective groups, and have moved to the next qualification round. They will fight with four other teams for two additional World Cup slots.
The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with an enlarged format of 48 teams, providing fresh opportunities for nations to shine on football’s grandest stage.
