In an attempt to get into the university of their dreams, thousands of Nigerian students take the JAMB exam each year. Not everyone, however, receives high scores. If your score was less than 180 or even 160, don’t freak out. There’s still a chance.
Federal, state, and private universities with cut-off scores of 150 and even 140 are among the many that accommodate low JAMB scores. Ten universities are listed in this article that you can still apply to even if your JAMB score isn’t as good as you had hoped.
1. BASUG, or Bauchi State University, Gadau
One of the most accepting universities for students with lower test scores is BASUG. Agricultural Science, Sociology, and Education are among the many departments where the school accepts JAMB scores of 140 and higher. It’s a fantastic choice if you want to study in a serene setting in the North.
2. The University of Sokoto State (SSU)
Students who score 140 or higher on the JAMB are admitted to SSU, particularly for courses in education, history, and political science. Known for its easy admissions process, this government-owned university welcomes students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Third, KSUSTA, or Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero
Although this university focuses on science, it also offers management and social science courses. The JAMB score range for admission to KSUSTA is 140, depending on the course. It’s perfect for students who wish to take classes in science, technology, or agriculture.

4. FUBK, or Federal University, Birnin Kebbi
For students with scores as low as 140, FUBK, one of Nigeria’s more recent federal universities, provides excellent opportunities. Lower scores make it easier to enroll in courses like history, sociology, and languages.
5. The University of Taraba State (TASU), Jalingo
It’s well known that TASU accepts students with JAMB scores as low as 140. Candidates with low test scores can particularly enroll in courses in education, public administration, and library science. It is a popular option for Northeastern students.
6. The Plateau State University in Bokkos
Plateau State’s serene highlands are home to PLASU. While some departments accept 150 to 160, some competitive courses require 170. This place offers excellent opportunities for students interested in the social sciences, education, or the arts.
8. Okitipupa’s Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH)
Previously called OSUSTECH, this university specializes in science and technology education. Biological science, industrial chemistry, and fisheries are among the courses that accept JAMB scores as low as 160, depending on the competition.
8. ADSU, Adamawa State University, Mubi
Low JAMB scores are well known to be accepted at ADSU. Admission is highly likely for students with a score of 140 or higher, particularly in fields like business, sociology, and education.
9. Federal University, Jigawa State, Dutse (FUD)
Candidates with a score of 150 or higher are also admitted to FUD, another federal university. It provides classes in management sciences, arts, and agriculture. FUD is an excellent choice for students looking for a federal university with liberal admissions standards.
10. Federal University, Zamfara State, Gusau (FUGUS)
Low JAMB results can also be accepted at FUGUS. Students with JAMB scores as low as 150 were accepted into various departments for the 2024–2025 school year. The arts, social sciences, and education courses are particularly inclusive.
