Tinubu Won’t Allow Lagos Politics to Be Unstable, Denies Plot to Reinstate Obasa

The continuing speakership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly will be discussed at today’s meeting of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governance Advisory Council (GAC).
According to what I was told, the committee would not discuss Mudashiru Obasa’s reinstatement.
Speaking anonymously to the Nigerian Tribune, a GAC member denied allegations that President Bola Tinubu had ordered Obasa’s return, calling them false myths propagated by his supporters.
Since Obasa was ousted as Speaker of the 10th Assembly on January 13 and Mojisola Lasbat Meranda took his place, the Lagos Assembly has been embroiled in scandal.
The party’s leadership is split over Obasa’s removal, with some groups calling for his reinstatement. A senior GAC member, however, rejected these attempts as unfounded.
The insider said, “We are meeting on Monday (today) to discuss the Lagos State House of Assembly crisis, not Obasa.”
“The Assembly leadership was part of the group that the GAC had previously sent to meet with President Tinubu. Solutions were offered, and the problem was examined. The assertion that Obasa’s homecoming was commanded by the president is a fabrication that his supporters have masterminded.
“No one, including the President, is interested in reversing that decision,” the source added, emphasizing that he was the first Speaker to be removed by his colleagues. As a democrat, Tinubu would not meddle in this manner.
Disagreements inside the GAC have also resulted from the speakership crisis, especially between two powerful groups: The Justice Forum (JF), which is against Obasa’s return, and The Mandate Movement (MM), which is in favor of him.
The GAC source, however, denied that the problem was a factional conflict and maintained that Obasa’s dismissal was solely an Assembly issue.
“The Mandate Movement and the Justice Forum are unrelated to the leadership contest. It is not sincere for people to demand Obasa’s return. They are former members of other parties who have returned to the APC. “Party factions are not the issue here,” he clarified.

The source restated that maintaining stability in the Lagos Assembly is the main goal of the GAC meeting, not reevaluating Obasa’s stance.
Tinubu continues to be the head of Lagos’ robust political system. He will not, however, for Lagos politics to become poisonous and unstable since he is focused on national governance,” the insider continued.
He further denied allegations that the purported campaign for Tinubu’s restoration was motivated by Obasa’s awareness of his political activities.
What is known by Obasa that previous speakers and governors were unaware of? He came to the conclusion that there is a lot of incorrect information in the media because his influence is overhyped.
