Breaking: Troops Foil Boko Haram Attack On Borno Naval Base

In the early hours of Wednesday, troops from the Maritime Component of Operation Hadin Kai foiled an attempted invasion on the Naval Base Lake Chad by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
According to reports, the base is located at Fish Dam in Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno.
According to intelligence sources speaking with Zagazola Makama, the insurgents initiated the assault around 1:00 a.m.
They targeted the newly acquired Swamp Boggeys purchased by the Borno State Government for waterway clearance operations in Lake Chad.
The attempted sabotage resulted in a barrage of gunfire between naval personnel and the perpetrators.
Soldiers from a nearby outpost in Baga were quickly dispatched to the scene.

“Despite the fact that the base fought the intrusion, the damage was limited. According to one of the sources, an ambulance and two other vehicles were damaged, and some personnel were injured during the engagement.
The firefight reportedly lasted more than two hours, forcing the terrorists to flee without access to the Swamp Boggeys, which remained intact.
As of the time of writing, the Air Component Command (ACC) had initiated follow-up aircraft operations to locate and neutralize the fleeing terrorists around Lake Chad’s waterways.
According to military officials, more information is being gathered and will be released as the situation evolves.
