Reports that Namadi Sambo, the former vice president of Nigeria, switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been refuted.
In a press release provided to the media adviser, Umar Sani, the reply claimed that the story of Sambo’s defection was a hoax meant to deceive the public.
It further stated that the widely shared photo of Sambo with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, which supported the defection narrative, is an outdated image.
The statement also stated that the former vice president has no plans to join any other political party and is still a devoted and loyal member of the PDP.

The former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, GCON, has allegedly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a widely shared tale that has caught my attention. This assertion has no foundation and is wholly untrue.
“I have decided to issue this formal reply on behalf of His Excellency’s family after receiving a lot of calls and inquiries. I unequivocally declare that the tale is a lie, full of malice and intended to deceive the people.
“This untruth is supported by an old photograph of His Excellency with Senator Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna State. It was taken years ago when the Governor paid his condolences to His Excellency’s home in Abuja after his brother, the late Sani Sambo, passed away. Now, the picture is being purposefully altered to support a fabricated story.

Additionally, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, His Excellency is expected to attend the commissioning of a 300-bed hospital in Kaduna.
