Anyanwu Assumes Office as PDP National Secretary Amid Ongoing Crisis

The decision by the 12-member Governors Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to recognize Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s national secretary has been rejected by Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
According to information obtained, Anyanwu returned to work as the PDP’s National Secretary on Monday.
Less than 48 hours have passed since Anyanwu asked security services to assist him in halting what he said was an attempt by the party’s 12 governors to sow disarray by appointing Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye as a substitute for him.
Vanguard claims that Anyanwu entered the party’s National Secretariat at Wadata House quietly by driving through the service gate behind the structure. Before entering his office, he made small talk with the few secretariat employees who were available.
According to reports, the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has instructed Sunday Ude-Okoye and Senator Samuel Anyanwu to abstain from all next BoT meetings until the national secretary conflict is settled.
Leadership claims that this was included in the resolution that the Board of Directors adopted at its most recent meeting.
The BoT was “very disappointed with the way events turned out,” according to a source who talked to the aforementioned outlet.

A physical altercation broke out during last week’s BoT meeting at the PDP’s national secretariat in Abuja as a result of Anyanwu and Ude-Okoye’s dispute over who should be the party’s national secretary. One of Anyanwu’s aides tried to physically prevent Ude-Okoye from attending the meeting, to which he was invited.
But while Ude-Okoye was being led to the high table, the BoT demanded that he attend the meeting.
The party elders reportedly asked the two candidates “to stay away from BoT meetings until the issue is resolved,” according to sources at the meeting.
