Ologbondiyan Blasts Damagum: “You’ve Opened a Floodgate of Crisis in PDP

Kola Ologbondiyan, the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claims that the party’s interim Chairman, Umar Damagum, triggered the problem by directing Sam Anyanwu to resume as National Secretary.
It was previously reported that Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye were at odds over who should hold the position of PDP National Secretary.
On Tuesday, Damagum led a high-level PDP team to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters to seek a resolution to the situation.

Damagum instructed Anyanwu to return to the PDP National Secretariat after the visit, but FCT Minister Nyesom Wike objected to the directive.
Wike claimed that Damagum could not issue such an order because Anyanwu was not his appointee.

However, in an interview with Arise Television, Ologbondiyan stated that Damagum violated the PDP’s constitution by ordering Anyanwu to resume his duties as National Secretary.

He stated, “When it comes to our party’s crisis, I believe the floodgates have just opened since Damagum’s action of unilaterally directing Anyanwu to return office as National Secretary violated the party’s constitution in ways that I cannot articulate.

“The NEC, which is superior to the National Working Committee and second only to the party’s national convention, made a decision at its 99th meeting at Legacy House in Abuja.

“It said, look, we have taken the report of the Southeast who are complaining about the fact that their nomination was not accepted, so at the next NEC meeting on June 30th, we will now make a decision.”

“How can a selected group of individuals go and sit somewhere so that the person whose office is in dispute can resume?

“This is outside the resolution of the NEC, do we still have a party?”
