In Abuja, Peter Obi Holds Closed-Door Meeting With Abubakar Malami

26 June 2025, Abuja In an effort to spark new political discourse ahead of the general elections in 2027, Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, met strategically with Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, in Abuja.
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Obidient Movement Worldwide’s acting national coordinator, verified that the meeting was held at Malami’s office. Tanko announced the meeting on X (previously Twitter), describing it as a continuation of Peter Obi’s efforts to forge partnerships across Nigeria’s political landscape.

As of today, June 25, 2025, the Obidient Movement has welcomed a new senior member. In order to create bridges and free Nigerians from the struggles they endure on a daily basis, this is a component of our goal,” Tanko said.
The meeting’s photos, which depict Obi and Malami having a friendly conversation, have raised questions about a potential political alliance or partnership. Malami hasn’t officially joined the Obidient Movement, despite the fact that the meeting was important, Tanko subsequently explained in an interview with TheCable.
The Obidient Movement is gaining traction as a forum for change, public involvement, and inter-party discourse after becoming a powerful political force during the 2023 elections.
