Tinubu Conference Centre Booked Out Until 2027 – Wike

According to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the recently refurbished Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre is fully booked through 2027, demonstrating strong demand and confirming the government’s investment in the venue.

Wike revealed this information on Thursday in Abuja while the Kugbo Bus and Taxi Terminal was being commissioned. The project was one of several development initiatives started to commemorate President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.

The ₦39 billion spent on conference center renovations had drawn criticism from the public. The project was a good investment, according to Wike, as evidenced by the large number of reservations and recent high-profile use, including an ECOWAS meeting that President Tinubu hosted.

As I speak to you, the convention center is now reserved till 2027. “There’s no more room,” the minister said.
“I noticed that the deputy speaker had applied for a constitutional amendment event, but no date was available. If he can pay on time, I’m attempting to make adjustments because the facility isn’t free.

Wike emphasized that there are no exceptions for any government agency or official and that the facility runs on a commercial basis.

“A National Assembly waiver is unmatched. For the facility to be sustainable, everyone must pay to use it.

Wike praised the leadership of President Tinubu and pointed out that making audacious choices despite opposition is necessary for real success.

“Without making choices, no leader can be successful. No matter how you behave, people will always have something to say. The most important thing is to act and proceed.

The minister emphasized the continued efforts to upgrade Abuja’s transportation system, stating that the newly finished Kugbo and Mabushi Bus Terminals and the current construction of a second terminal in the Central Business District are intended to improve public transportation in the Federal Capital Territory.

Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for all locals, regardless of wealth, and we are not here just to appease the wealthy. That is the way to advance this nation, and President Tinubu has embraced that vision,” Wike continued.

The changes highlight how the administration is working to improve the Federal Capital Territory’s usability and appeal while delivering essential infrastructure.
