INEC Confirms Application to Register New Coalition Party, ADA

In order to verify that they have received their application to register as a political party in Nigeria, the supporters of the projected All Democratic Alliance (ADA) have contacted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC acknowledged in a letter dated June 27, 2025, signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, that the application filed by the Protem National Chairman of the ADA on June 19, 2025, is presently being reviewed.
As is typical but formal, the Commission ended its correspondence by wishing the applicants the best, indicating that the application will be given the proper consideration.

“Your application is being processed by the Commission in accordance with Part 1, clause 2(ii) of our Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2022,” the letter said.
According to reports, in preparation for the 2027 election cycle, ADA would join a growing number of political platforms that are positioning themselves as alternatives to Nigeria’s major parties if registration is successful.

Earlier this week, INEC declared that it had received 110 applications for political party registration.

Meanwhile, 110 associations have applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be recognized as political parties, but Ezenwa Nwagu, Executive Director of the Peering Advocacy and Advisory Center in Africa, has called them jokers.

In the Commission’s second Quarterly Meeting with the Media on Wednesday, INEC Chairman Mahmoud Yakubu revealed that as of Monday, June 23, 2025, the electoral management body had received letters of intent from 110 associations that wanted to register as political parties, according to Naija News.

Nwagu emphasized that specific requirements must be fulfilled in an interview with Arise Television, pointing out that many of the associations are either without a valid address, a chairman, a secretary, a constitution, an acronym, or a valid address.

He claims that up to 70 of these societies have been documented to have offices in graves.
