2027: Amaechi Says Buhari’s Era Was Better for Nigeria

Rotimi Amaechi, a former transportation minister and two-term governor of Rivers State, has said that the former president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration improved Nigeria’s economic standing and security.
President Bola Tinubu was never the best person to govern Nigeria, according to Amaechi.
According to reports, the former minister made the stinging comments on Wednesday in Abuja when the African Democratic Congress (ADC) interim national executive was unveiled.

The former All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate said that he has continuously questioned Tinubu’s ability to lead and cautioned that the current administration has fallen short of Nigerians’ expectations.
Amaechi stated bluntly, “I have never thought that Tinubu is a suitable candidate to lead the nation.”
He continued by saying that many Nigerians are wishing former President Muhammadu Buhari, under whom he served as minister for eight years, would return because of the country’s present economic and security issues.
“People are requesting Buhari because under his leadership, things were better,” Amaechi stated.
According to reports, Amaechi’s remarks coincide with his increasing support for opposition groups fighting the APC’s grasp on power under the ADC platform in the run-up to the general elections in 2027.
The ADC’s temporary leadership, which includes well-known politicians like former Senate President David Mark and former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, was also formally introduced during the occasion.
Amaechi has been speaking out more on the state of the nation and the leadership of his old party since losing to Tinubu in the APC’s 2022 presidential primary.
