Troops Neutralize Bandit, Rescue Kidnap Victim in Plateau Ambush

During a successful ambush operation in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday, troops from the 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) neutralized a suspected bandit, freed a kidnapped victim, and retrieved firearms.
According to reports, the operation, which took place along the Kampani Zurak–Sabon Gari road, was a component of Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, which is now underway and aims to purge the Plateau and its surroundings of criminal groups.
Major Samson Zhakom, the Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, revealed the news in a statement released in Jos on Wednesday. He stated that forces had received credible intelligence regarding a recent kidnapping in the area and had set up an ambush near a known bandit route.
Troops caught the culprits transporting their victim on a motorcycle during the ambush. One bandit was neutralized during the brief battle that followed, while others ran into the bush, according to Zhakom.

Mr. Adamu Nuhu, 45, was the kidnapped victim who was successfully rescued by the soldiers. Following the rescue, the military reports that he is currently receiving the proper care and assistance.

One fake pistol, one magazine, four rounds of 9mm ammo, a Boxer motorcycle, and personal belongings left by the escaping offenders were among the items found at the scene.

Zhakom continued, “The recovered weapons and equipment are presently in military custody for additional investigation.”

In order to find and capture the remaining members of the criminal gang who managed to flee during the encounter, Major Zhakom said that follow-up operations were still underway in the region.

Additionally, the OPSH spokesperson took use of the occasion to reassure citizens of the military’s dedication to protecting lives and property within the state.
