Ahead of 2027 Elections, IPOB Political Wing Begins Mobilization Drive

The Indigenous People of Biafra Political Wing (IPOB-PW), which has started to increase grassroots mobilization in anticipation of the national elections in 2027 and the forthcoming campaign for governor of Anambra, has positioned itself as a political alternative that seeks to bring peace and security back to the Southeast.

The group told the media in a statement that the continued insecurity in Igboland, which includes violent attacks and deaths in states like Anambra, Enugu, and Benue, is the reason for its renewed political activity.

Resolving the region’s instability requires political will, which IPOB-PW maintains is currently lacking among politicians “made by Abuja” as opposed to elected with a strong local mandate.

“Most political leaders in the region are either afraid or unwilling to take decisive action, which is why the killings in Alaigbo continue unabated.” Political action is needed to address the underlying cause of this insecurity, the group said.

IPOB-PW argues that full political engagement is the best way to ensure Igbo safety and self-determination, despite conflicts with Fulani herdsmen and worries about outside invasion.

In order to create a broad-based campaign before 2027, the group stressed that it is aggressively contacting different grassroots organizations around the Southeast.

“We are mobilizing both within and externally. We will be making a big announcement soon. IPOB-PW is organizing to address the problems, not merely watching them,” the statement continued.

The group reminded its followers to be calm but watchful while restating its goal to eradicate insecurity politically.

Additionally, it denounced the recent wave of violence in the area and urged authorities to hold those responsible accountable.

“Crime will persist until offenders are held responsible.” The statement said, “IPOB-PW is dedicated to guiding the political ship of Alaigbo toward safety, justice, and dignity. Our people need political emancipation.”

The group’s remarks coincide with an increase in discussions on the place of regional movements in national politics, especially in view of Nigeria’s intricate security and governance issues.

Now, as 2027 draws near, observers anticipate the momentous news that IPOB-PW predicted.
