Gombe Anglican Diocese Urges Tinubu to Allow Opposition Voices

According to the Anglican Diocese of Gombe, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government must conduct national affairs fairly by granting opposition groups the opportunity to voice their opinions without fear of retaliation or harassment.

In a statement following its 2025 synod, which took place at Christ Anglican Church Bambam and had as its theme “no more condemnation for those who are in Christ,” the synod stated that the Federal Government must put electoral reforms into place in order to increase the 2025 election’s legitimacy.

Along with signing the communiqué and forwarding it to our correspondent, the right-reverend Cletus Ajigben Tambari, the bishop of the Gombe Anglican Diocese, urged the federal government to take action to stop the nation’s growing security threats, which include insurgent activity, violent communal clashes, and suicide bombings.

The Synod also expressed disapproval of the immense suffering that Nigerians endure as a result of the Federal Government’s poorly considered policies.

It mentioned policies that “have occasioned the rising prices of goods and services,” including the naira’s floating, rising petrol prices, and several other taxes.

It then sent its condolences and sympathies to the residents of Mokwa in Niger State, Yelwata in Benue State, and Mangu, Bokkos, and a few other areas of Plateau State for the recent tragic floods and bandit assaults that claimed over 300 lives.

In its remarks on Gombe State issues, the synod praised the state government, led by Inuwa Yahaya, for the variety of development projects that have been completed and are still in progress in the state.

The three arms complex of the Secretariat, House of Assembly, and Judiciary headquarters were among the establishments mentioned, along with new motorable highways (particularly in Tunfure city), hospitals, and a new ultra-modern motor park.

The synod expressed gratitude to the State Government for its assistance to the Anglican Diocese of Gombe in commemorating the Diocese’s 25th anniversary and the establishment of its College of Nursing Science in Kaltungo. However, it also urged the State Government to improve the lives of the masses by providing farmers with tools, fertilizer, and loans or grants to help produce food.
