Galatasaray Targets Maduka Okoye as Gyökeres Battles Sporting Over Arsenal Transfer

Goalie Maduka Okoye of the Super Eagles of Nigeria is a target for Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray.
The 24-year-old Maduka Okoye, who plays for Udinese, an Italian Seria A team, is viewed as a long-term replacement for Fernando Muslera, the team’s seasoned goalkeeper.
Despite Okoye’s alleged involvement in betting fraud during a Serie A match against Lazio on March 11, 2024, Galatasaray is still interested in signing him.

According to people close to the club, they have begun talking to Udinese to see if the Nigerian international is available.

Keep in mind that since moving from Watford to Udinese in 2023, Okoye has had a decent run. The goalie, who was born in Lagos, made 48 appearances in all competitions last season and recorded ten clean sheets.

According to the Italian publication Calcio, Udinese is requesting €15 million for his services.

The asking price and the impending investigations surrounding Okoye don’t appear to faze Galatasaray, who are also pushing for the recruitment of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen.

José Mourinho, the manager of Fenerbahçe, is interested in signing Marco Asensio, a Spanish international, from Paris Saint-Germain.

Fenerbahçe and the PSG midfielder have reached an agreement, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. According to reports, Asensio has received an invitation to Istanbul to complete the agreement and undergo a medical examination.

Asensio’s transfer is interpreted as a declaration of intent by Mourinho, who seems eager to assemble a competitive team from seasoned players.

In other news, Viktor Gyökeres has stated unequivocally that he will not be returning to Sporting CP for the preseason.

The Swedish striker formally notified Frederico Varandas, the president of Sporting, of his intention to depart.

The 26-year-old, who played a key role in Sporting’s championship run the previous season, has decided to sign with Arsenal of the Premier League.
