ANAP to Keyamo: Push for Immediate Appointment of Aviation Boards

Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has been urged by the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) to advocate for the appointment of board members for other aviation organizations.
According to ANAP General Secretary Comrade AbdulRasaq Saidu, the establishment of aviation agency boards and their subsequent inauguration would strengthen systemic transparency.
In an interview with reporters in Lagos over the weekend, Saidu nevertheless praised Keyamo for appointing new board members for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Saidu claims that the ANAP and other aviation unions in Nigeria have been fighting for the appropriate policies to be implemented in the industry for a long time in an effort to keep the system safer.
He pointed out that the agencies’ statutes that established them were broken by not appointing board members.
He stated: “I am requesting that President Bola Tinubu appoint the boards of directors of other agencies in order to ensure justice and equity within the system.” The ANAP has been advocating for the correction of all aviation sector abnormalities for the sake of safety.
Saidu pointed out that only the governing boards could enforce systemic discipline, prevent unlawful contracts, stop employment and recruitment fraud, and supervise the daily operations of agencies.
The majority of recent hires and contracts should have gone through the parastatals of the Governing Boards of Aviation, according to Saidu, who acknowledged that this hasn’t always been the case.
Despite their nominations by previous President Muhammadu Buhari, Saidu further criticized Sen. Hadi Sirika, the immediate past Minister of Aviation, for failing to designate board members for aviation agencies throughout his eight years in the position.
“ANAP has times without numbers that raised this issue,” he clarified. There was no action taken to inaugurate the numerous bodies that former President Buhari had appointed till Sirika’s departure. It died that way. The current administration has carried on in the same manner.
