The Nollywood star Ugezu J. Ugezu has criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio for contesting the court ruling that reinstated Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Ugezu was said to have expressed his opinion on Instagram.
The filmmaker questioned Akpabio’s decision to contest the decision of a court of competent jurisdiction that ruled Natasha’s suspension illegal and ordered her to return to the Senate.
He reminded Akpabio that neither he nor Natasha may be removed from office permanently because they were both elected by the people.
The Senate President should put aside distractions and concentrate on important legislative work rather than dragging out a colleague’s reinstatement through protracted legal disputes, Ugezu urged.
The manner you were elected to serve YOUR people was the same way SHE was chosen to represent her people, he wrote. She’s now suspended. An appointed senator was reinstated after a competent court decided that you had no authority to suspend her indefinitely. Is the judgment being appealed by you? “Senate President Sir, are you able to put aside frivolities and attend to your actual legislative responsibilities?”
The Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan should be recalled to the upper legislative chamber after her suspension. Senate President Godswill Akpabio reportedly filed a notice of appeal contesting the ruling.
The appeal was filed before the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on July 14, 2025, and it has the registration number CA/A//2025.
It relates to the lawsuit, FHC/ABJ/CS/384/2025, that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had previously filed to challenge her six-month Senate suspension.
