‘Opposition Has Collapsed’ – APC Chairman Slams Rival Political Parties

The All Progressives Congress (APC)’s new national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, has ruled out the possibility that Nigeria’s opposition parties could run against his party in the 2027 elections.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is supported by the alliance, is one of the opposition groups in the nation that Yilwatda claims the APC is not concerned about.
In an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, he stated, “At this time, there is no opposition.” This was not long after he was elected head of the ruling party.

He boasted that the 2027 presidential election would not be an anomaly because the APC received a landslide victory in the 2023 elections and has since won nearly all bye-elections and off-season gubernatorial contests.
Regarding the likelihood of the opposition coalition overthrowing the APC in 2027, he declared, “There are no concerns.”
“Why has the APC won every by-election in the past two years, and with landslide victories in the majority of cases?” He was joking.
In addition to winning elections, the former Humanitarian Affairs Minister promised to bring the party together and add additional governors to the APC from the PDP and other opposition parties.
My responsibility is to bring the party together and grow it. We are still counting, and we currently have 23 governors. My role is to attract more. We would bring in more and put in more effort,” he said.
