Tinubu’s Spokesperson Issues Statement on President’s Health

Amid fresh criticism over his early endorsements for the 2027 elections and frequent medical trips abroad, Daniel Bwala, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media, asserted that the Nigerian leader is “physically fitter than most presidents in advanced countries.”
Bwala reportedly made the claim in an interview with DW Africa, where he also defended the wave of endorsements that followed Tinubu’s midterm in office, characterizing it as an internal All Progressives Congress (APC) tradition.
When asked about worries about Tinubu’s health and his medical travels, Bwala responded, “The president of Nigeria is actually physically fitter than most presidents in the advanced countries.”
He clarified that the APC’s early support for Tinubu’s second term was not a planned political ploy but rather a component of their midterm procedural review.
There will be a mid-term appraisal as part of our party’s procedure, Bwala stated.
Therefore, it has nothing to do with President Bola Tinubu. Following each midterm, we will evaluate the president, whoever is in office at the time, to see whether they have performed well enough that we would trust them to remain.
Tinubu passed the test “with distinction,” Bwala said.
“We have measured that he has performed wonderfully well,” he said. Therefore, we have complete faith that we have the backing of our people in 2027.
Bwala outlined the Tinubu administration’s major accomplishments and emphasized local government autonomy as a crucial step toward strengthening democratic governance.

“The introduction of local government autonomy is one way to strengthen democracy,” he stated. autonomy that provides chairman or administrators of local governments with a wealth of resources.
He clarified that states have been able to assemble vigilantes and acquire tools for monitoring, obtaining intelligence, and assisting law enforcement because of this autonomy.
Bwala also emphasized Tinubu’s leadership’s achievements in agriculture and healthcare.
He added, “We also provided dispensaries, such as free caesarean sections for mothers who are having trouble giving birth.”
He continued by saying that the administration’s rice policy has made food more accessible, particularly for those with modest incomes.
“We also have a rice policy that has made rice available to Nigerians at all levels,” he remarked. Additionally, there are local-level subsidies available to those on specific prescription medications.
He claims that since the administration began, almost 10 million Nigerians have been enrolled in the country’s healthcare system.
