Entering ADC Was a Strategic Mistake, Coalition Members Admit – Kachikwu

Some coalition members now regret joining forces with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), according to Dumebi Kachikwu, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi, former Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai, and former All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman John Oyegun are reportedly among the coalition leaders.
Additional individuals include former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, former Ebonyi Governor Sam Egwu, former Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Cross River Governor Liyel Imoke, and others.

In an interview with The Volume Pod, Kachikwu claimed that the opposition coalition is headed toward collapse.

Citing ongoing legal battles over ADC leadership, Kachikwu questioned the coalition’s legality.

He claims that Ralph Nwosu’s tenure as the national chairman of the ADC ended two years ago, and that he was not authorized to hand over leadership of a contentious coalition to chosen individuals.

According to Kachikwu, the opposition leaders allegedly bought off state chairpersons of the ADC to support their adoption of the party as an alliance platform, and the court alone has the authority to determine the ADC’s future.

“They’re going down a very slippery slope that leads to failure,” he warned. Nothing can be built upon.

The decision by two courts in two distinct jurisdictions that this man’s [Nwosu] tenure had ended was correct.

Therefore, nothing that they [ADC] would do would make sense. There has been no national executive committee (NEC) or convention since Nwosu’s term ended two years ago.

“The ADC has been attempting to hold a convention. They actually held two conventions, but INEC wouldn’t accept them.

That is the party’s issue. We [ADC] are in unique circumstances because our constitution never intended to cause a rift inside the party.

Because they are contacting me through multiple persons, “all these men now realize that they made a mistake by entering this party without dealing with these issues.”
