‘PDP Has Collapsed, Nothing Left to Destroy’ – Fayose Laments

After prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose said the party was destroyed.
Fayose reportedly declared that the PDP is no longer a party in a radio interview that was broadcast on Adaba 88.9 FM in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Sunday.
Even though the opposition party is divided and has cracks, Fayose stated that he will stay in the PDP and not join the APC.

He further blasted the PDP leadership for undermining his contributions to the party’s growth, emphasizing that many of the people who had previously accused him of anti-party behavior are now abandoning the party.

The PDP is in further difficulties and confusion, and the former governor claims that the party is to blame for its own problems.

Fayose made a dire prediction for the PDP amid the rift, stating that the umbrella party might not even place in the top three in the general elections of 2027.

Therefore, I will never decamp,” he said. Never will I visit APC. Do you leave a gathering when your family is in crisis? No, I had better show up, fight there, and oversee the election process. Next up will be Mr. Peter Obi. The 2027 general election will see the PDP finish fourth.

The PDP has dissolved as a party, thus there is nothing left to destroy. I work for a party that expects a lot from those who provide a lot. My PDP dues have been paid. Many of them, including Rotimi Amaechi, David Mark, and Nasir El-Rufia, highlighted the PDP’s strength in the ADC today.

Individuals who accuse me of being anti-party are suddenly abandoning the PDP in large numbers, even though I am not a member of the APC. PDP is an issue that it created for itself. Even more hardship and chaos have befallen the party.

“You don’t want me to support someone like Obi, who was a former governor of the PDP in his Anambra, and Atiku, who was a former vice president who kept coming and going, but Wike stayed in the party and funded it.”
