Liverpool Set to Abandon Isak Pursuit After £110M Bid Rejected by Newcastle

After their £110 million offer was rejected, Liverpool is ready to give up on Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle United.
The Premier League winners had hoped to entice Alexander Isak to Anfield this summer, but the Magpies, who are apparently demanding an incredible £150 million valuation, resisted their advances.
Although the clubs’ first discussions started in July, Newcastle has maintained that Isak is not for sale. Liverpool nevertheless made a formal bid of £110 million on August 1st, which was quickly turned down.
Liverpool may potentially back out of the deal, according to a BBC Sports report. According to insiders, the club believes there is little possibility of a successful transfer negotiation given the current situation.
Isak, 25, was reportedly left out of Newcastle’s preseason squad for their Asia tour, but the team blamed his absence on a “minor thigh injury.”
But according to English publications, the player is keen to think about leaving, even if Newcastle qualified for the UEFA Champions League this season.

According to reports, he has been practicing by himself at Real Sociedad, his old team, where he is still a favorite among the supporters after a successful La Liga stint before moving to Newcastle in 2022 for £60 million.
Liverpool have previously considered a bid for Isak worth up to £130 million under coach Arne Slot. The Swedish attacker continued to be a target for the Reds even after they paid £69 million to recruit French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
With the acquisition of Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Armin Pecsi, Slot’s team has already made significant expenditures this window.
Around £115 million has been made by the departure of important players including Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, and Caoimhin Kelleher, while the total outlay is estimated to have reached around £265 million.
Isak’s reputation has skyrocketed following an incredible 2024–2025 campaign in which he finished as Newcastle’s leading scorer with 27 goals in 42 games.
Liverpool seems prepared to put plans for the Alexander Isak transfer on hold, even though they were a top target, unless Newcastle changes their mind.
