Zamfara Traditional Ruler Released After Abduction

Alhaji Babangida Kogo, the paramount ruler of Yankuzo in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area, was kidnapped by armed gunmen on Tuesday but has since been released.
Following an airstrike that killed scores of suspected bandits, the king was reportedly kidnapped, raising suspicions among Ado Allero’s gang members that he had assisted the military.
Hours after being captured along the Mararraba axis while escaping his community after a fatal Nigerian Air Force (NAF) bombardment, he was freed late Tuesday night by the gang led by infamous bandit lord Ado Allero.

On Thursday, the monarch was reunited with his family at his palace in Yankuzo.
According to sources, the bandits claimed that the monarch had given the military intelligence that resulted in the precision strike that killed numerous terrorists at a forest enclave between Yankuzo and Munhaye earlier that day. Over thirty people were officially declared deceased, while numerous others were hurt.
After being held captive for several hours, he was reportedly released when Ado Allero and his warriors determined he was not involved in the military operation.
It was not a ransom. After questioning him, they discovered that he was not involved in the hack, according to a security source.
