Keyamo Slams Circulation of Indecent Video, Directs Sanctions on Responsible Parties

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has called the publication of a video that depicts an unruly passenger being exposed indecently during an Ibom Airline incident “totally unacceptable” and has ordered punishment against the staff members involved.

On August 10, 2025, the passenger, identified as Miss Comfort Emmanson, also called Comfort Bob, allegedly attacked ground personnel and flight crew on an Ibom Airline flight from Uyo to Lagos.

Keyamo said in a statement posted on his official X account on Monday that although it was vital to record her actions for legal purposes, it was shameful that the offensive material was made public.

“While we support the filming of her recalcitrant behavior as evidence to prosecute her, it is deplorable to have such evidence exposed to the public for the purpose of ridiculing her,” Keyamo stated.

We find that completely inappropriate. We will not stand by and watch as womanhood is devalued.

“Therefore, I have ordered that the person who released the portion of the video that showed the staff members being exposed indecently be singled out and given the appropriate punishment.”

In order to improve coordination of aviation security, the minister also instructed airlines to retrain and retrain their employees in handling sensitive situations and public relations. He also announced that a joint security meeting including pertinent authorities would take place the following week.
He stated that the passenger’s refusal to turn off her phone before takeoff, in violation of International Civil Aviation Regulations, caused the incident to occur at approximately 2:54 p.m. aboard Ibom Airline Flight Q153 from Uyo to Lagos.

He claims that the passenger has been banned indefinitely from both domestic and international flights by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.

As a result, he stated, “I have been discussing the incident with the Airport Police Command’s Commissioner of Police, the NCAA’s DG and his team, the FAAN’s MD and her team, and the Ibom Air COO and his team over the past few hours.”

After failing to furnish sureties, she was remanded at Kirikiri Prison after being arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Keyamo warned that indiscreet passengers could be subject to flight suspensions and even criminal punishment, and encouraged them to use the NCAA’s Consumer Protection Directorate instead of engaging in disruptive behavior.

According to the statement’s conclusion, “We will continue to apply equal sanctions available to us in Aviation on any such erring passengers, that is lengthy flight bans and report the matters to other law enforcement agencies to do their bit within their powers.”
