Adebayo on Hardship: Tinubu Embodies Bad Governance, No Shock to Me

According to Adewole Adebayo, a former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, President Bola Tinubu is doing a poor job of running Nigeria’s economy.
According to reports, Adebayo characterized Tinubu as the embodiment of poor governance and pointed out that the nation’s suffering was caused by all of his economic policies.
The SDP’s 2023 presidential contender told the Nigerian Tribune that he is not surprised by the current state of insecurity plaguing the country.
He said it’s a regret that Tinubu was unable to secure Nigerians in accordance with his constitutional obligation.
“We anticipated that they would act in this manner. What surprises me about Nigerians, though, is how startled they are by Tinubu. We were aware that these individuals don’t value government. Elections are important to them, but government is not. A president’s primary responsibility is to serve as Commander-in-Chief. Any government’s top priorities are national security, followed by public welfare, justice, and infrastructure and development. Thus, it’s disappointing.
“I personally dislike politicizing insecurity because it can affect our politics through atrocities when you criticize the government in a way that incites terrorists and other criminals. However, in this instance, President Tinubu’s and his security team’s ineptitude speaks for itself. The president ought to take the problems seriously, in my opinion,” he stated.

If Adebayo had been elected in 2023, he would have implemented excellent government, he claimed when asked what he would have done differently.
He claimed that his disapproval of the president stems from his inability to handle the problems facing the country, not from personal animosity.
“Everything would be different if I worked for the government. I would have been there legally, to start. The mandate wouldn’t have been taken by me. I would have been elected properly. I would then include those who care about the people in my budget and appointments, such as executives and ministers.
They are currently acting in the opposite way. Ego is not a factor in governance. Politicians are unaware that the constitution’s rights and privileges are intended to serve the people, not to benefit them personally. Since I don’t know Tinubu and I don’t care about him, he hasn’t personally upset me. I have the same complaint about him as I did about Buhari, Jonathan, Yar’Adua, and Obasanjo: we have been departing from chapter two of the constitution since 1999. It has not guided our governance. I’m against terrible governance, not Tinubu. He said, “Tinubu just happens to be the face of bad governance right now.”
