‘Unacceptable!’ — APC Bigwig Criticizes Buni’s Sunday Zonal Meeting Schedule

Prominent Taraba State All Progressives Congress (APC) member Daniel Musa has voiced his disapproval of Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State and the APC’s North East zonal coordinator, for scheduling a major party gathering on a Sunday morning, which is normally a time for Christian worship.
Musa described the decision to hold the North East zonal consultative meeting at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, as having the effect of marginalizing the party’s Christian members in an interview with reporters in Jalingo on Friday.
Musa said he hoped the timing was just an error, but if it isn’t changed, it could send “dangerous signals” about the party’s commitment to religious inclusion and equity.
“This timing is troublesome,” he stated. Sunday church services, which are an essential part of Christian life, are in conflict with it. Scheduling like this either shows insensitivity or intentional exclusion, and neither is appropriate.
“It will appear that the APC does not care about its Christian members in the area if it is not revised right away. Our unity and electoral chances would suffer if that continued to foster the idea that the party is biased.

The party leadership was urged by Musa to respect the religious diversity of Nigeria and plan political events in a way that respects all religions.
It would be impossible to arrange a similar gathering during Friday Juma’ah prayers, he emphasized, implying a double standard.
There is already a perception issue with the APC as a religious party. We must exercise caution so that our actions do not support that viewpoint,” he warned.
To ensure full participation from both Muslim and Christian members, the APC chieftain urged Governor Buni and the zonal leadership to reschedule the meeting for a more inclusive time.
