Akpobi Hails Delta Governor’s Initiatives in Youth Empowerment and Infrastructure

In Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has received praise from Elvis Akpobi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mentoring and Development, for prioritizing youth empowerment and completing significant infrastructure projects throughout the community.
He applauded Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to the MORE Agenda’s infrastructural development and youth empowerment initiatives throughout Delta State in a statement.
He asserts that Governor Oborevwori is putting leadership in line with the improvement of lives and communities by consistently lifting the standard in both youth-focused governance and physical development.
Building people is more important to the governor’s government philosophy than merely constructing roads. He is continuously producing infrastructure development,” he continued.
He cited notable initiatives like D-CARES, which has enabled more than 5,000 entrepreneurs, as a direct reaction to the financial requirements of the state’s youth.
He further highlighted the Governor’s strategy for fostering an environment that supports youth growth, which includes ongoing investments in ICT training, mentorship programs, and company incubation.
“The Governor believes that access transforms everything, and the D-CARES initiative and other empowerment programs are real-world examples of that,” Akpobi stated. “Young people are being positioned not only to survive but also to lead in a variety of fields by having access to tools, skills, and platforms.”
Akpobi went on to highlight the administration’s outstanding initiative, the Overseas Leadership and Mentorship Training, which has opened up the world to more than 60 young Delta State leaders.
Through their involvement with international governance models and innovation systems, these young Deltans are equipped to make significant contributions not only within their communities but also on a continental and worldwide scale.
Giving our young people access to mentorship and education abroad is a bold step. It guarantees that in addition to technical expertise, students also possess the attitude and global perspective required to prosper in the modern world,” he stated.
“If we give our youths access, crime will reduce and communities will grow,” he reaffirmed in the statement, which is Governor Oborevwori’s guiding principle.
The strategic focus on digital skills, tech innovation, agriculture, and exchange programs through the Offices of Youth Development and Job Creation, he said, are examples of how the administration is acting in accordance with this belief.
In addition, Akpobi called Governor Oborevwori’s style of governance a “new model” that views infrastructure as a tool for maximizing human potential rather than only as physical structures.
According to him, development is inclusive and people-centered under this strategy, encouraging youth engagement and responsibility in addition to progress.
Hopefully, he said, Delta State will remain a model for inclusive development in Nigeria under the Governor’s persistent passion.
