APC Chieftain Eta Alleges El-Rufai’s Coalition Move Is Scripted for Tinubu

Hilliard Eta, the former national vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), believes that Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, chose to join the effort to form a coalition against President Bola Tinubu because he was unable to get a job in the current administration.
According to reports, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), El-Rufai, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have been leading the effort to forge a coalition against Tinubu.
Eta stated during an appearance on AIT Focus Nigeria that El-Rufai is not unique and that he and other individuals played a greater role in Tinubu’s election as president than the former governor.
Tinubu is the maestro of coalition building, the APC chieftain said, dismissing the coalition move.
El-Rufai believed he might become a minister under Asiwaju, and the majority of them were formerly allies of the current president, he claimed.

“You ask whether El-Rufai would be forming a coalition today if he had been minister at the time. At this point in his government, I have no doubt that he would be showing Nigerians his report card.
“Let me tell El-Rufai that if we couldn’t be ministers, then there is nothing special about the president. People like us played a bigger role in his creation than he did.
“This man (Tinubu) had close allies like Kwankwaso and Aregbesola; these people are narrow-minded and only care about themselves.”
“Remember this is the master of coalition building; he has been in the trenches of coalition building from the days of NADECO. Keep that in mind while you are fighting and trying to construct a coalition.
“What you are doing right now is just a game for him. The fact is that self-preservation, not enlightenment, is what motivates many of our people to enter politics. Why do you assume it can’t come to you later if it hasn’t occurred to you yet? If the nation improves, everyone improves, even if it doesn’t affect you personally.
