Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reaffirmed their unflinching support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda following a thorough examination of the country’s socioeconomic path.
According to reports, the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) stated during a two-day strategic regional meeting in Benin City, Edo State capital, hosted by Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, that the APC remains Nigeria’s most institutionally coherent political platform, with unrivaled records of reforms, electoral success, and national unity.
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, the PGF’s Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okpebholo, Fred Itua, issued a statement encouraging all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to rally behind Tinubu and the APC as the country moves toward a more secure, inclusive, and forward-looking future.
The Forum noted that the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was consistent with the party’s ongoing evolution.
The PGF reiterated its strong commitment to a united, just, and prosperous Nigeria, promising to work together to implement bold reforms, strengthen institutional trust, and accelerate socioeconomic growth across all geopolitical zones.

Governors agreed to stay true to APC ideals, leveraging technology, innovation, and intergovernmental collaboration to promote Nigeria’s development from the ground up.
Governor Eno’s Official Welcome
The PGF publicly welcomed Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno to the ruling party, stating that his choice to defect to the APC, together with his followers, demonstrates a growing national consensus on President Tinubu’s revolutionary ideas.
The PGF commended President Tinubu and his team, praising the strong support for his policies throughout the states led by the Forum.
Tinubu’s Reforms
The Forum also presented a detailed assessment of the nation’s economic, social, security, and political trajectory, which its members completed.
The Governors were pleased with the improved collaboration between federal and state institutions, notably the prioritization of fiscal reform, food security, energy transition, infrastructure modernization, and social sector revitalization.
They vowed to maintain alignment with national objectives in accordance with constitutional federalism principles.
Recognizing the effectiveness of macroeconomic stabilization programs like as fuel subsidy elimination, exchange rate unification, and debt reduction, the Forum endorsed a strategic shift toward social fairness and inclusive prosperity.
The Governors emphasized that, while economic statistics indicate indications of recovery, growth must be further democratized by increasing investments in food security, job creation, poverty eradication, MSMEs, and social safety nets.
Security
On security and national stability, the Forum praised security agencies for their continuous efforts to combat crime and protect national sovereignty.
The Governors restated their commitment to inter-agency coordination, community policing, and grassroots intelligence networks, while also advocating for increased investment in surveillance infrastructure and frontline personnel welfare.
The PGF offered sympathies to families afflicted by insecurity, notably in Benue and Niger states, and reaffirmed its collective commitment to supporting the President’s national security architecture, praising recent efforts and trips to Benue State.
The statement also emphasised the importance of local government and community structures in service delivery and democratic inclusion, as well as the necessity for renewed grassroots governance.
Following the press briefing, Governor Uzodimma announced the loss of Kano State’s famous national leader, Aminu Dantata. He requested a minute of silence in his honour.
